Scott English - Hearst Ventures

Scott is a Managing Director of Hearst Ventures and pursues strategic investments and acquisitions for the corporation in digital media. Scott has invested in, and served as a Board Director or Observer of, over sixteen companies. Most recently, Scott lead the investments in portfolio companies Buzzfeed, Pandora, Relationship Science, Brightcove, Sling Media, and Wide Orbit. Scott joined Hearst in 1995 and has had a variety of operational and investment responsibilities during his tenure. Aside from his venture activities, Scott helped oversee two of Hearst's digital businesses and acted as interim CEO of UGO Networks. In his first position at Hearst, Scott ran business development and strategy for Hearst's HomeArts.com network of magazine websites culminating in the merger of HomeArts.com and Women.com (iVillage). Prior to Hearst, Scott worked for Details Magazine at Conde Nast. Scott graduated with a bachelor's from Trinity College and earned his MBS from Columbia Business School.

Ron Fisher - SoftBank Capital

Ron is Managing Partner of SoftBank Capital, the investment arm of the SoftBank Group, a global telecommunications, Internet and media conglomerate. He is also Director and President of SoftBank Holdings, Inc. and a member of the board of directors of SoftBank Corp., Japan. Ron has over 30 years of experience working with high growth and turnaround technology companies. He joined SoftBank in 1995, overseeing its U.S. operations and its other activities outside of Asia, and was the founder of SoftBank Capital. Ron serves on the boards of several public and private companies, including Cloud Engines (Pogoplug), Desktone, E*Trade Group, LiteScape Technologies, MocoSpace and Nellymoser. He previously served on the board of GSI Commerce (sold to eBay in 2011). Ron earned an MBA from Columbia University, New York, and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa.

Nilanjana Bhowmik - Longworth Venture Partners

Nilanjana is a General Partner at Longworth Venture Partners and focuses on infrastructure, software and mobile investments. She currently serves on the boards of Tylted (mobile social gaming network), NuoDB (elastic cloud database), Symform (peer-to-peer cloud storage), and Viewfinity (cloud security). Her prior investments and portfolio involvements include VKernel (acquired by Quest), Tizor (acquired by Netezza/IBM), Softricity (acquired by Microsoft), Thor Technologies (acquired by Oracle), Scanbuy (mobile barcode imaging) and Marathon Technologies (server high availability). Previously, Nilanjana was a VP, Mergers & Acquisitions at Broadview (now Jefferies), an investment banking firm where she led M&A transactions for several tech companies in software, services and digital media. She began her career at Object Design, Inc., where she held several leadership positions in software engineering and professional services during the company's fast growth from startup to successful IPO. Nilanjana received a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, a master's in Computer Science from the University of South Carolina, and an MBA from INSEAD. Woody Benson - Prism VentureWorks

Woody is a General Partner at Prism VentureWorks. For over three decades, he has been at the forefront of major computing and technology trends. Woody currently serves on the board or is an advisor to: LogMeIn, Expo Communications, Greater Good, and MetaResolver. Career IPO highlights include Shiva Corporation (1994), MCK Communications (1999), Elastic Networks (2000), and LogMeIn (2009). Mike is the Founder of ShopRunner, a members-only shopping service with an online retailer network that spans today's most popular brands. Previously, Mike was co-founder and COO of GSI Commerce, a leading e-commerce services company acquired by eBay in 2011. He also served as Chairman of Complex Media (ComplexMediaNetwork.com) and led Home Decor Products as President and CEO. Earlier in his career, Mike served as EVP of Corporate Development and Managing Director of Organic Online, Inc. (now a part of Omnicom) and was the founder and President of Organic Media, Inc. He also co-founded Iguana Studios Inc. and was Chairman until the eventual sale of the company to Change Technology Partners. Mike received a bachelor's degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of Pittsburgh and a JD degree from Villanova University School of Law.

Visual Designer/Senior Visual Designer

Swirl is seeking a talented Visual Designer with strong graphics capabilities who will help create marketing and business development materials.

You will:

  • Work directly with the VP and Director of Marketing to evolve the visual design for the Swirl brand.
  • Manage the Swirl website and other digital properties, including art direction, content creation and front-end development.
  • Create online and offline marketing assets including emails, infographics, sales presentations, collateral and event graphics.
  • Stay informed about design trends and best practices to ensure delivery of the highest-quality brand experience for Swirl’s target audiences.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years digital design experience, ideally working in a marketing or advertising-focused start-up or comparable agency environment.
  • An online portfolio of design projects which showcases your outstanding visual designs.
  • An eye for typography, composition, layout, color, and a pixel-perfect attention to detail. You're passionate about clean, simple, usable interfaces.
  • Interactive experience working with large consumer brands and associated digital marketing campaigns.
  • Master in Adobe Creative Suite.

QA Tester

Swirl is seeking an organized and detail-oriented entry-level candidate to fill the role of QA Tester. The QA Tester will work with the Swirl team to ensure that the Swirl products are of the highest quality. This position requires an extremely organized, efficient and effective individual who feels a strong sense of ownership for the quality of the Swirl products.

  • Evaluate and test the Swirl products on a daily basis to verify that the products function according to functional specifications and development guidelines.

Director of Business Development - Publishers

Swirl is seeking a Director of Business Development to help execute Swirl’s publisher business development plans through market development and mobile app publisher acquisition and management. The Director of Business Development will be responsible for driving the company’s efforts to identify and nurture revenue-generating partnerships with mobile app developers and publishers.

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect, close and grow relationships with key mobile app publishers.
  • Educate mobile app publishers on the Swirl In-Store Mobile Marketing and Advertising Platform and how Swirl can drive value for their businesses.
  • Work closely with the product team to communicate market requirements.
  • Coordinate with the operations and product teams to ensure successful implementation of Swirl technology with publishers.
  • Maximize efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are required.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of mobile technology and B2B software business development from prospecting to closing deals to growing existing accounts.
  • 7+ years of experience in business development, with demonstrable experience in closing and managing deals with mobile app developers and publishers.
  • Track record of demonstrated achievement meeting and exceeding aggressive goals.
  • Start up experience in emerging technology markets desirable.
  • Ability and comfort communicating effectively in writing, verbally and as a presenter to senior executive audiences.
